Dance-therapy

Since the day my classical dance teacher introduced me to dance therapy, several decades ago, I have always had the desire to train in it… one day. Covid and all the awareness it brought with it pushed me to make this desire a reality. For me, dance therapy brings together fundamental and founding elements of the human being, often repressed or even forgotten. It goes through paths that our societies no longer value and which can nevertheless be as natural as breathing when we allow ourselves to travel them. Dance therapy will not suit everyone but I can only invite you to come and discover, during a session, other ways of being together, of moving, of feeling, of expressing yourself,… to simply be.

Sessions

I work in different facilities, in a therapeutic setting, where there is a need for a different type of therapy: associations, elderly homes, hospitals, foster homes, etc… Dance-therapy benefits all interested people, regardless of their age and difficulty, in group or individual sessions of approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes. I also conduct individual sessions in a private studio in the Parisian region (92) and surrounding areas.

DMT

DMT or dance-movement-therapy is defined by “the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive and physical integration of the individual”. In other words, “dance therapy is a form of non-verbal communication, through rhythmic movements and bodily actions, sometimes artistic, offered by a trained and competent facilitator. The sessions can allow to work through tensed areas of the body and mind,  as well as the expression of emotional needs and in order to achieve the integration and socialization of the individual, thanks to a method with a maturing and therapeutic aim” (ADTA definition). Playfulness and the joy of movement are essential elements of the sessions. Images, objects and sensations are tools used to stimulate creativity and imagination.
I advocate an integrative approach which is inspired by the different sub-branches of dance therapy, such as primitive dance, biodanza, intuitive dance, etc…
